2013 Monastery Anniversary

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

On September 25, 2013, the sisters of Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ Monastery celebrated the four year anniversary of the purchasing of the monastery property, on the feast of St. Sergius of Radonezh. The sisters were blessed to commemorate this feast day and mark this anniversary in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy with Archimandrite Gerasim Eliel and Archpriest John Anderson.

Through God’s grace and the support of countless monastery friends, the monastery has grown and developed in these four short years. In addition to welcoming three women into the monastic life to join Mother Barbara, the monastery has already dedicated and blessed the land for both the Blessed Xenia Cemetery and the St. John of Kronstadt Chapel. Construction also has begun on the St. Seraphim of Sarov Retreat Center. To date, the first phase – foundation with the stubbed in plumbing and attached shed – are complete.

Save the Date - Monastery Feast

The monastery humbly hopes to be able to use the Retreat Center for the Feast Day celebration, and we invite you to mark your calendars and plan on joining us in celebrating our patronal feast day on Saturday, December 28, 2013. In addition to sharing in the festivities, you will be able to witness how God has grown and blessed our little monastery. We thank you for your on-going prayers, and if you would like to offer financial contributions to continue our work on the Retreat Center, you may use the link below or contact Mother Barbara at 903-498-4474.

Finally, we invite you to explore and bookmark our new website at nativitymonastery.com. We look forward to updating you with our development, and may God grant us many more years. Through the prayers of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
